Video-Generation Startup PixVerse Secures $439M, Valuation Exceeds $2 Billion
Singapore-based video-generation startup PixVerse announced today the successful closure of its Series C extension round, securing a total of $439 million. This significant injection of capital has propelled the company's valuation past the $2 billion mark. With this fresh funding, PixVerse aims to aggressively expand its world model offerings and extend its reach to customers across diverse geographies, solidifying its position in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. The company had previously closed its initial Series C round in March, led by CDH Investments, with reports suggesting it raised approximately $300 million. The latest extension round saw participation from a robust roster of investors, including industry giants like Alibaba, alongside Lollapalooza Capital, Ivy Capital, Grand Mount Capital, Eastern Bell Capital, Mirae Asset, BlueFocus, and CloudAlpha. These new investors join returning backers such as iGlobe Partners and OCBC's Lion X Ventures, underscoring strong confidence in PixVerse's vision and technological prowess. Founded in 2023 by Wang Changhu and Jaden Xie, PixVerse boasts a leadership team with deep expertise. Changhu previously honed his skills in computer vision at ByteDance, while Xie served as an executive director at the investment firm Lighthouse Capital. PixVerse offers a versatile suite of models, including the V-Series for consumer and API use, the C-Series tailored for professional film and commercial workflows, and the R-Series of world models, released earlier this year, designed for game development and immersive world-building. Users can leverage these tools to generate high-quality videos in up to 4K resolution, complete with integrated audio. The company's consumer product has garnered impressive traction, boasting over 150 million registered users and more than 15 million monthly active users, offering competitive rates such as $4.80 per minute for image-to-video generation. Jaden Xie highlights the vast opportunities in video generation, noting that only a few companies are truly making significant progress. He points to OpenAI's exit from the business with the shutdown of Sora 2 and the perceived inability of giants like Meta and Tencent to create high-quality video models, positioning PixVerse among the elite few meeting the quality bar. Xie emphasizes that the market offers equal potential in both consumer and enterprise segments, with users creating videos for entertainment and consuming AI-generated short-form content, while businesses utilize video generation for creative, learning, and marketing applications. PixVerse's core strength, according to Xie, lies not just in data availability but in its sophisticated labeling methodology, a capability refined by Changhu's experience at ByteDance, where he developed the core visual understanding technology behind TikTok's robust recommendation algorithm. Looking ahead, PixVerse harbors ambitious plans for the current year. The company aims to significantly expand its enterprise outreach globally, already having secured a strategic deal with investor Alibaba to deploy its advanced video-generation features. In terms of product development, PixVerse is set to launch a new V-Series model for enhanced video generation and release an updated version of its world model. With 150 employees spread across offices in Singapore, Beijing, and Shanghai, the new funding will be instrumental in recruiting more top-tier researchers and expanding its go-to-market functions, ensuring sustained innovation and market penetration. Despite a heating market with competitors like ByteDance's Seedance, Video Rebirth, Kling AI, Midjourney, Runway, and Luma, PixVerse remains confident in its unique models and strategic direction.
